COVID-19: Keep up with the pandemic through print and online

Posted

News of the COVID-19 virus has been inundating us all at what seems like warp speed. There are recommendations, mandates and proclamations that impact us all.
News about the closing of bars and restaurants as well as restrictions on how many people can gather show the desperate efforts being made to contain this virus. We are all impacted.
At The Gazette, our chief concern is to provide accurate information which helps explain the scope of this pandemic and why decisions are being made. As mentioned last week, our goal is to be sensible, not sensational.

I think you can all attest that the landscape is quickly changing sometimes by the hour and other times by the minute. That means there is a good chance that content in parts of this week’s newspaper might be outdated from the time the paper is assembled on Monday to when it is printed and distributed to you beginning Tuesday. Many of you won’t receive the paper until Wednesday or later. In an effort to continually update information, we are using our other tool, galenagazette.com, to provide updates so you can have a clear picture as to the decisions that are being made and how they will or might impact you and your family.
All the material related to COVID-19 is outside of our paywall and available to all. These are interesting times in which we are living. It is our belief that the better informed we all are, the better we are able to make good decisions regarding ourselves and our families. And, finally, if you have story ideas for us which provide clarity and understanding as to how the pandemic impacts us locally, please let us know.
