Scales Mound United Methodist Church is starting up its “Young at Heart” community gatherings on Tuesday, June 27, at 1:30 p.m. with the fabulous “Accordion Divas!” Denise Stadel, Colleen Yonda, Vicky Barclay and Vivian Eaton will treat the audience to some energetic oldies but goodies, and answer all your questions about accordions. Will a polka break out? Hard to say. Dense, Colleen and Vicki met as members of the Galena Community Hand Bell Choir, and shared a love of music. Colleen taught herself to play accordion, Vicki took accordion lessons as a child, Vivian has played accordion for dance bands in the Mt. Carroll area and Denise said, “why not?” Together, they all make beautiful music! Scales Mound UMC holds “Young at Heart” gatherings on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Each month they will have refreshments, entertainment and speakers and great community with one another. They invite anyone who is ‘young at heart’ to join them and tell your friends!
