On Monday, July 24 Donah Gehlert, an Ohio native; Lana Caywood, Platteville resident and member of the Dubuque Urban Sketchers; and Sue Strickler, Platteville resident, decided to spend the afternoon sketching and painting the buildings of downtown Galena. Sophomore Kennedy Roddick is the artist of the month for early May. Above, she displays a cat clock she created. Roddick said that “art is subjective,” so the same piece can mean different things to different people. She added that it also connects people and expresses what words can’t. Roddick and her father connect through art because her dad shows her his high school art pieces. “I like to make art that is personal to me and has a story behind it. Most of my art has a story about me in it,” she said.
